Gesture-Controlled Digital Signage
Gesture control turns a screen into a touchless interface. Visitors raise a hand, swipe, spin or scratch in mid-air — and the display reacts immediately.
What is gesture-controlled digital signage?
Gesture-controlled digital signage uses a camera to track the visitor's hand and body movement, so the content can be operated without any physical contact with the display.
It removes the hygiene and wear concerns of touchscreens and works at a distance, which makes it well suited to busy public spaces such as malls and outlets.
TapGest has delivered gesture-controlled campaigns including a wheel of fortune at Fashion Arena Outlet in Prague, a scratch app for Samsung in Sarajevo, and spin-and-win activations for Jägermeister and Lasta.
How it works
1. Detect the visitor
A camera at the display recognises when someone steps into the interaction zone.
2. Track hand movement
The application follows the hand position and translates it into on-screen control.
3. Trigger the mechanic
A spin, swipe or scratch gesture starts the game or reveals the content.
4. Deliver the outcome
The result — a prize, a code or a product message — is shown on screen.

What is touchless digital signage?
It is signage operated without physical contact. In our implementations a camera tracks the visitor's hand, so gestures replace taps and swipes on a touchscreen.
Is gesture control easy for first-time users?
Yes — the mechanics we use, such as spinning a wheel or scratching a card in the air, are familiar and are explained by a short on-screen prompt.
Does it work in busy environments?
It is designed for them. Our gesture campaigns have run in shopping malls and outlet centres during regular trading hours.
Can it be combined with a prize mechanic?
Yes. Most of our gesture campaigns end with a reveal — a discount, a giveaway or a promotional message.
