Augmented Reality Digital Signage
Augmented reality digital signage puts the audience inside the ad. Visitors see themselves on a large screen surrounded by 3D content, characters or brand assets rendered live over the camera image.
What is augmented reality digital signage?
AR digital signage combines a camera, a large display and real-time rendering: the live image of the person in front of the screen is augmented with virtual objects, players, mascots or brand elements.
Because the audience recognises themselves on the screen, the experience is instantly understood and highly shareable — visitors photograph and film it themselves.
TapGest has delivered AR signage for sports properties, telecom campaigns and shopping centres, including AR fan experiences and AR photo moments with digital characters.
How it works
1. Create the AR content
3D assets, characters or scenes are prepared for the campaign — for sports campaigns this can include capturing real athletes.
2. Track the visitor
A camera detects the person in front of the display and their position in the scene.
3. Composite in real time
Virtual content is rendered live over the camera feed so the visitor appears together with it on the screen.
4. Let people take it home
Where the campaign includes it, the result can be delivered to the visitor as a photo.

What is AR digital signage?
It is digital signage where a camera feed of the viewer is augmented in real time with virtual content, so the visitor appears on the screen together with the brand's 3D assets or characters.
Can real people appear as AR content?
Yes. For the Ice Hockey World Championship campaign we captured Czech hockey legends so that fans could appear on screen alongside them.
Where does AR signage work best?
In places with high dwell time and foot traffic — mall atriums, fan zones, arenas and event areas.
Can visitors keep the result?
Yes, when the campaign includes a photo mechanic — see our AR photo booth solution.
