Step into the Imagination: Interactive AR Photoshoot with F.Kafka Statue at Quadrio Mall

Franz Kafka AR Photo Experience at Quadrio Mall, Prague

    The Challenge

Quadrio Mall wanted to turn a visit into a memorable, shareable moment by connecting the centre to Prague's cultural heritage — specifically the Franz Kafka statue — rather than relying on a static landmark photo spot.

    The Solution

TapGest built interactive digital signage, placed prominently within the mall, that lets visitors take part in an AR photoshoot with the Kafka statue, using high-resolution displays and AR technology so guests can pose with the statue in a variety of imaginative positions.

    The Visitor Experience

Visitors approach the digital signage and pose with the Kafka statue in various positions, from whimsical to imaginative scenarios, with AR integration ensuring the interaction looks seamless and realistic. After capturing their AR photo, visitors share it on social media directly through the app.

    Implementation

High-resolution displays provide crisp, vibrant visuals, while AR software composites the Kafka statue into different poses and scenarios over the live camera image. The interface is deliberately minimal so visitors of all ages can start and finish the photo without assistance.

    Technology Setup

The unit is a high-resolution digital signage display with a camera facing the space in front of it, running the TapGest AR photo application. The camera image is the backdrop: the application places the Kafka figure into that live view, in whichever pose the visitor picks, and captures the frame. Sharing happens through the app, so the photo leaves with the visitor rather than sitting on a screen in the mall. Nothing is worn, scanned or installed by the visitor.

    Results

The installation gave Quadrio a reason for visitors to stop in the passage rather than walk through it, and tied the centre to a Prague landmark that people already photograph. Visitors leave with a shareable image carrying the location; we do not publish footfall or dwell-time figures for this campaign.

    Frequently asked questions

Where is the Kafka AR photo experience located?

Inside Quadrio Mall in Prague, next to the Franz Kafka statue.

Can visitors keep their AR photo?

Yes — visitors can share the AR photo on social media directly through the app after capturing it.

Why build an AR version of a statue people can already photograph?

Because a photo of the statue is a photo of the statue. In AR the visitor chooses the pose and the scenario, from straightforward to deliberately absurd, so the result is their picture rather than the same landmark shot everyone else takes.

Does a visitor need help from staff to use it?

No. The interface was kept to the minimum number of steps precisely because the screen stands in a passage: people start, pose, capture and leave without anyone explaining it.
